Very diffiult for me to give advice.

Reminds me of the saying "better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all".

you have obviously spend a lot of time, money, effort on this and not to go through with it would be a travesty.

You are making a pretty good sum and have a good life there. Plus your country , your people. You could not imagine how important that is.

10 days....that is avery less time to gauge What Canada can or cannot do for you. Afew months is the least you would have to be here.

I have had friends come here from Mid east and making very high salaries (tax free in some cases;) ). My first advice to them is DO NOT LEAVE YOUR JOB. DO NOT LAND HERE WITH YOUR WHOLE FAMILY. I give them advice because I know them from a long time back in college days in India. Usually I refrain from doing so.

I see it this way. I am alone (single). Even with negative experiences I dont mind trying out new things. If I am successful, fine. If not then its only me who is affected.

With a family its a very different game.

Others, please help Niks.

We do not want to discourage him, but we do not want to give a rosy picture to him.

One thing we can all say is. If Niks does decide to come here, We will all do our best to help him.

I have been reading the postings on this topic with interest. Niks - I was in the same situation as you are in India. I have a Degree in Engineering from an IIT + an MBA from a top school overseas and good Corporate experience. I have been here for three years now and I have always and still contine to work in entry level positions. My experience is Canadian employers are uncomfortable with people who have good qualifications and expertise. They would like to have employees with their own level of education, experience etc., There are a few who have landed in good jobs here but they have to conform to the norms here.
Having said that it is ultimately your choice and you have to take a long hard look at the options available to you. Once here most people look back at what they have left behind.

Dont know man. I myself am living a very good life(coming here was the best decicion of my wifes/my life) here but things dont work out the same for everybody.
If you are going to sell your house maybe you want to rethink so that you have it to go back to. Maybe the wife can continue working there till you manage to get your break here?
OR
Grit your teeth and say you are willing to take the leap...come what may and do not look back. Then start your research for jobs online and prepare to spend as much of time trying to find out about companies that you would like to work with and the positions that are available therin. The other day I received a pvt e-mail from a guy from chennai who will be landing in Montreal. He somehow managed to get a job before landing at 85K/year + commissions.

Ultimately its upto you. Maybe you can give your reasons for coming here? This may give us some idea on your priorities.
