kakaji,

I see your mind and honestly asking experienced guys here. Did you get meaningful replies here?

This is "canadian" culture. Learn from this.

In fact, India has the oldest tradition and deepest knowledge of s*x and that is \"Kamasutra\", So what is wrong with that ?

I don't think EVERYONE is drinking in India.

Don't be overcautious and be hard on yourself. Don't worry about values and
cultures. Over a period of time everything will be adjusted.

Ya try to concentrate on this. But for sure you may not be very rich and may not face hardships for living expenses irrespective of your circumstances and finally be flexible enough to accept irrespective of anything Canadian or desi.

I think the OP has touched a very sensitive chord .

These are points that we all know , feel and are concerned about but attempt to over come / over look as we know that the choice is to be in India or to be in Canada either of which has its accompanying pros and conses ....

Whatever one says about India , but generally Indians are conservative and have a different culture towards eating ( vegetarianism is perhaps the highest , if you come out , you could d have problems ) , mingling ( religions and festivities ) and the social fabric ........

But thats not all ... if these are the things that we miss there are other social ills also which abound in India and are present to a less degree here ......... Don't judge a coin by looking at one side only ........ It has to be a decision based on all facets .

Yes - we all miss and wish for Indian culture but the fact is that you can not have Indian culture here and your children would follow the culture here to an extent .

Try involving them more with social religious activities in the GTA so that they may get taste of both cultures .....

I d also like to ask experienced CD s .... how do they deal with culture clashes esp with kids like dating and non vegetarianism ( in case of vegetarians ) ?

At workplace where when we order food choices are available. As long as you can sit together with Canadians and eat food and involve in casual or business talk vegetarianism is not a problem.
As far as eating concerned vegetarianism is not a problem if one is little flexible.
Some may extend their flexibility like chicken topping on pizza (pepperoni is way to go) or cheese pizza(even though cheese with rennet is not veggie) or Veggie hot dog or burger (even though made on same grill which is used for nonveggie).
As far as dating concerned I have found many experienced desis involving with Canadians very comfortably in some casual chit chat which can sometimes extends as small episodes of dating.(not intimate relationship though).
However, one has to be smart enough in dealing with these touchy issues without hampering Indian ethos and many people have mastered it successfully
