Interesting case to read. In Last summer a chinese storeowner chased and detained a thief. Later on Police arrested storeowner alongwith the thief:confused: . The shopowner was a victim of complicated legal system and charged for assault.
Finally, the charges against him were dropped and he finally got relief after a more than year long legal battle.

Unbelievable....so the Crown spent tax payer dollars and countless hours charging and trying a man who caught a thief?
And what's more, it seems the original thief got a lighter sentence because he agreed to become Crown's witness against the man who caught him in the first place.
Something's seriously wrong with this picture.... :D

Yes the incident happened in May 2009. In August 2009 the thief was jailed for one month and then released. Why this chinese shopkeeper has to wait for one and half year to get relief.
I don't understand why the police doesn't work with commonsense?
Unnecessarily wasting taxpayers money for the people who are not guilty. Not only this case I have heard in many case police harrassing innocent people. Especially in matters of children.

It seems that finally govt. got some lesson and try to change the law.
Interesting to read further
