I know that this topic was brought up earlier, but I wanted to specifically enquire about my father who is a doctor in India for last 28 years and I am planning to file his PR....
wanted to know how will it be possible for him to validate his MBBS degree from India....or any course he could take....
He might not practice full fledge...but something in his field...was wondering if any one can help me by answering these questions as it is a BIG BIG decision ...

It may not be worth it. After all he has just an MBBS (not meant to be critical but there are tons of people with FRCS in India as we have an oversupply of doctors in India) and after 28 years, it will be even very hard for him to upgrade himself. Canada is the worst place to be for a medical doctors.
On the other hand, the PR of Canada can bring him closer to his children / grand children and give him an opportunity to pay taxes in Canada. He can also claim OAS after 10 years of stay in Canada and as a side note , his medical will be free in Canada. He can even get Free Triple by pass surgery in Canada (after waiting his turn).
Unfortunately, there are no comparable options of working for him Canada (In the US many unregistered doctors work as medical technicians as covered by CNN).
Some one (a few years ago) told me that an former IAS officer in India was working as a security guard in Canada (in the boom times) as he was hesitant to ask his children (who sponsored him to Canada). Do not know how true it was and it was not an information given to me by Vandematharam.
If at all you decide to sponser him, I can tell you of a few options :
1. Slog it out for 3 years and get a Cdn. Passport. Once he gets this he can come and go when he likes and in his old age (when no one will employ him), he can come to Canada and enjoy the benefits (like welfare , free food bank, free medical etc…).
2. Get his PR but then enters and leaves Canada. He as 3 more years to make up his mind. In the end, he can choose.
3. You will apply for his PR, but then your father will work in Libya/ Gulf (in the meantime) where he can get 10 times his current salary in India. Once he gets his PR< he uses the saved up money to survive in Canada by retraining himself to be a nurse , medical lab technician, etc.. (remember, he has to go through the full process meaning that he has to study from 6 months to 4 years full time depending on the course). He can also do business (medical side and not buffet restaurants) as Canada needs a lot of business people who are willing to take risks with their hard earned money and in the meantime provide employment to many Canadians already struggling here. As people say, your dad needs to be street smart for this willing to even vaccum the floor of his business.
All the best. We eargerly await your dad’s arrival in Canada with a PR and for him to start paying taxes from the date he lands (not income tax but more so the HST, cost of food, insurance, gas, car/home buying etc…)
Your dad will not regret landing in Canada any day. We are waiting with open arms at the offices that we work in. (unfortunately there will not even be an immigrant help booth there to bother helping him)

He already worked 28 years and when his PR process completed, he would have completed more than 30 years of service.
You want him to work more?
Bring him here and give him rest. Take care of him in his retired life!
thats the whole point ...he wants to keep himself busy....
i would never want him to struggle anymore.....its our turn to give him back...
but the whole point is ..if he chooses to do sumthing...part time...he should atleast have an option....

If you are planning to file his PR now, it will take atleast 5 years for him to get his residency. Evaluate your situation 5 years down the road.
his will be quick as its under the category of doctors....

the reasoning behind me sponsoring him in canada is for us to live together....n if any options available..he can work part time....just for the kind of person he is...(he likes to be busy)...
coming to taxes.....thats something much later....what matters most is living with your family....
