Do u get enough time to address u r concerns with u r doctor? Though My doctor is very experienced and knowledgeable I hardly get 5 minutes to consult him.
Same here. I have seen the doctor a couple of times. She is always in a hurry ... does not even let me finish and is more than happy to dart out prescriptions.
I guess ... I must say I am lucky to have a family doctor (in Canada). It's a prime example of "lack of competition" that forces doctors to have this attitude. I don't see that changing unless the doctors have to slog it out there & compete for patients
You may want to try changing family doctors in that case.
My wife and I had the same experiences (or maybe a lot worse) with our previous family doctor. We changed her and the new one is one of the best doctors we've ever come across. The exact opposite of what you're describing.
There's hope.

Growing Old Is Mandatory ..Growing UP is Optional
Funny that this topic should come up....
On the flip side our dentist is recommending every single treatment possible. On the first visit I was told I had to have a filling put in, and might possibly require a root canal. On the second visit, the hygienist tells me I require a filling AND a root canal. When I told her the dentist had told me different, the answer was - 'No, I consulted with the dentist and this is what is required.'
And then the recommendation that I get a crown once the root canal is done. There I'm told that they will tell me the cost once they find out how much my insurance covers, i.e., they will see how much they think they can stiff me for! And here I thought cost was dependent on the service charged, not on the size of my pocket!
Needless to say, I was a bit skeptical after hearing all this so I went online and did a small search. Came up with lots of stories of pushy dentists who recommend all sorts of treatments that are not required.
I think this dentist, on hearing that I had moved from India, tried to suggest that the quality of care I had received there was sub-par and therefore, needed a lot of work done.
The funny thing is that I never had this sort of experience in the States. You would think private medical systems would have the same pros and cons. Or perhaps I was just lucky to get a good dentist while I was south of the border...

When I moved to Ottawa, I had a doc who was seeing two patients at the same time. He would run between me and the other patient. Ready to write a prescription any time. After 3 visits, I got frustrated and changed. The one I have now is a god sent. I am very grateful to have this doc. Knows a lot abt India, has read the Gita (and I have not). Goes by natural aspects rather than prescriptions.
