Thanks folks ,
Although we drive on the Hwy , but I wished to ensure that we do it right ... Like
a. While merging into main traffic from a ramp , what s more important .... to merge at 100 kph or to watch for the coming traffic ...... I know its both if the road is clean but if it is not ... then there might be a conflict ........... I guess we shd increase our speed and be prepared to modulate it per the approaching traffic before merging ...
b. Another q that comes to my mind while driving on the Hwy is - whats the correct speed to be maintained .... shd we keep under 100 kph or be collaborative with other cars ... I mean people generally drive at 110 + ....
c. Sorry for bothering but q 3 on my mind is - when we merge into a Hwy , is it not better to change 2 lanes asap because the first lane also becomes the exit lane with in a short distance ??
I have booked Guelph for the Test but I guess I will re consider ...... .. Thanks folks for all your advice and suggestions .....
one of my friend who is a student just 21 years old cleared last week G test. He says st. catherine is good for G test and since there is little traffic, it is smooth sailing.

Thanks Febpreet & Gopalpai ..... Febpreet your advice is valuable ..
Does anyone know if Guelph is as good as center ?
Also - I have a check engine light on in my car - though no major issues .... Can the examiner disqualify me for this ??

Bancroft is an excellent location to go for your road test. There was a recent article about it.

I gave my G test in Barrie a few weeks ago after driving for a few years with G2. Passed. It was pretty simple, basically just like the G2 test (G1 exit) with highway and fewer allowances for errors.
Make sure you know how to parallel park, 3-pt turn, roadside stop, reverse park into a spot. Check blind spots and mirrors properly (so turn your shoulder for blind spots to make it clear, don't just shake your head) every 5-8 secs, never make a rolling stop, check the appropriate mirrors and blind spots when you make a turn.
Make sure you follow the speed limit as exactly as you can (so don't drive too slow or fast). On the highway, if at all possible, merge only after you get at least to 80 km/h (90's even better), but of course take traffic into account. Maintain your speed exactly at 100 km/h, and when you exit, do not decelerate until you are fully into the exit lane. When you make a lane change, make sure your speed does not change at all.
Where you give your test does matter a bit, as a Toronto Star article from a few years ago showed how exam pass rates were not uniform across the province. I would avoid very busy centres with lots of highways that intersect each other like Downsview, Brampton, Etobicoke, but in reality you should be able to pass anywhere if you are a decent driver.
I don't think its a way of making money ... it is ensuring that roads are safe and there s a value for human life . They are trying to protect you from being a bad driver .
Homer729 -- Thanks a lot for your valuable suggestions ..... I shall read them again before taking the test . As of now I have it in the Guelph and will take a lesson or two from an Instructor to hone up the forgotten skills ..
