CD's,
On my way to work today, I drove at 88Km per hour on a 60 km road. I am always careful to slow down where potential police will be. This was on Islington between Albion and Rexdale. A police car was coming opposite to me and i donot know how the crusier was able to find my speed when coming in the opposite way. However, the police turned and told me that i was doing 88 km on a 60 km road and gave me a $135 ticket.
I have not read the terms and conditions associated with it but i would like fellow CD's to advise me on the best way to throw out this ticket. Also it was the first time i knew that police can find my speed even when the car that they drive is being driven opposite to the direction that i drive.

You should get a court date as your insurance could go up. You should contact paralegal services like X-Copper, etc. Also see this thread (which is not on speeding but some members have listed a few paralegal services) http://www.canadiandesi.ca/read.php?TID=15763

Are 3 demerit points also listed on your ticket?

Raj,
Thanks for the links.
I have E-mailed all these people for help in fighting my ticket. I also spoke to a person in my office (who works on sat.) and he also told me that the Traffic Ticket fighting people do a great job and that i should give my case to them to get rid of my headache. He said that they charge $300 to $500 for their serivce + the fine.
As i have read over the internet, this offence (speeding 19km to 29 km over the speed limit) has 3 demerit point with it and since i am a G2 Driver, I will receive a warning letter from the MTO. I canot afford to have these demerit points in my license and hence will have to fight it out to the end.

Sidenote : If most of the Speeding Tickets (which carry 3 demerit points) can be fought with Ticket fighting agencies (for a fee) and if they promise 100% guarentee or your money return, then the Govt. of ontario should seriuously think of the Individuals paying $300 + fine directly to the provincial govt. to have the demerit points removed. It can become a source of revenue for the ont. govt.

As an FYI for all, I was once told by a cop that they can track your speed from as 360 degree. So basically the cop can be anywhere ie on the side, opposite or behind and can get your speed.

TK, (don't take this personally), but generally in a 60 zone, people go between 70 & 80. 88 was a bit too much. Hope you can get someone to help you out.

Fines and demerit points are meant to discourge people who do not obey the law. If the paralegals lose the case, they might pay your fine but it would be conviction and it would go in your record and you might see an increase in your insurance premium.

It is only that everybody has a right to fair trial even though one may be at fault.

If there are no demerit points and no implications of a traffic rule violation ticket, rich people would be repeat offenders.

Traffic tickets ideally should not be source of revenue for government. Govenment benefits eventime you break the law is not a good idea.

I was told the same by one of my friend BUT I dont think that they have such advanced technologies. And even if they have it will be very expensive idea to use for traffic controls. Is there any online source of the machines (radars) and technologies they use ? I am just curious to learn how it is possible to track the speed of opposing car while the cop himself is in motion too. I could be wrong... But I dont believe it till I get the proofs.

You can put terms like traffic speed radar in google and you will get thousands of links.

Would they give out random fake tickets?
