Thanks to everyone who replied.
I contacted 3 or 4 people to fight the ticket and all agreed to reduce the points to Zero. I will go with one of them. They are so convinent that you just need to fax / e-mail a scanned copy of the ticket and they will do the rest. I am reproducing a sample letter sent to me for the benefit of Cd's.
Hi TK,

The ticket the officer gave you has 3 demerit points attached to it. If you
pay the ticket it will go on your driving record for 3 years to which your
insurance company has access to and can base your rate upon.

What we do is go to court for you to fight the ticket, we guarantee that you
do not lose any demerit points or we will give you a full refund.

If you would like us to help you we charge 200 dollars.

Thank you,

I find this kind of behaviour not only amusing, but also disgusting at times. That you should join the thousands who speed, get tickets and run after these traffic ticket fighters (?) speaks volumes of your attitude.

You write\" I am always careful to slow down where potential police will be\". That shows your utter contempt for the law. So now you got someone to fight the ticket, and Bam!, before you know, you are speeding again......pray why? well we have the traffic ticket fighters to save you (again). sooner or later, you could become an aggressive driver!

Now before you bash me for being on moral ground and sermonizing, let me clarify something. Now this may not be palatable to you, but would be useful for some poor soul who can't afford to pay the traffic ticket fighters or the cop's ticket:

I have been driving for many years, and never got a traffic ticket for speeding or for that matter any other offense. The secret - I leave home for work on time, give myself an extra 15 minutes for reasons like bad weather, a flat tire, construction, a blocked lane, or even an accident on the way. I am a careful and safe driver, have a five star rating and have no worries about a cop car flashing behind me.

I have heard guys brag \" well I do 90 in a 60 KM zone, all the time\". Sounds good, until you hear and see the flashing cop car behind. I don't care when people consider me slow (for not overspeeding), but certainly I keep myself and my fellow citizens safe, by obeying the rules of the road.

Cir57,
I agree with you completely. but there could be unforseen circumstances which canot be under an individual's control in some cases. I was to be in my office at 10:00 am on Saturday for an important meeting. I woke up late on Sat. morning since i have been under work pressure lately and hence had to rush to the meeting. I even had a takeout Dinner on Friday to save time and I was in the bed at 11:00 pm (I came home at 9:00 pm).
Anyways, I have already sighed up with a Traffic ticket specialist who has promised to help me. They gave me verbal confirmation but not written one. The fee structure is as follows :
$300 for reducing the points to Zero.
$600 to throw out the ticket. I have to pay GST extra.
Though there were cheaper ones, I went with a reputed name as advertised on TV/Radio etc.. With this firm, i need not even meet them. I just faxed over everything to them and they faxed me the doc's to sign and return.
What the person told me was that i should wait until the court date appears on the mail and then send the mail to them. They said that then they will go to court and throw the ticket out.
Thanks CD's for all your tips/ suggetions etc..
Now i hope the whole matter is behind me (- a significant amount of bucks)

I tend to agree with Cir57

If someone is running late that is their problem. That is not an excuse.

Im not trying to be a morality police here or anything but trying to pay your way out of a ticket is not really accepting responsibility for what you have done. You did the crime, now pay the fine!

Rules are put into place for a reason.

Cir57: I feel sad that in today's world one can buy their way out of anything.
