This is our 1st summers in our house. There is No AC in the house and for 1st time after so many years I m reminded of Indian summers.

So, I need advice on this subject.Should we go for central AC or window? And if anyone can give me a rough figure as to how much it will cost? And from where should get it?

I remember our home inspector had mentioned that you have the AC wiring already. You just need a AC.

Your inspector was hilarious . It is like having a horn and all you need now is a car.

AC installation depends upon factors like :
1. Size of the house .
2. Size of the furnace
3. Basement finished / unfinished
And most importantly your budget . There are two diff kind of AC's avlbl - With Freon gas and R410 . Freon AC is much cheaper than R410 gas because it has been phased out by the govt as it is not environmental friendly .
Than chose the efficiency based on their SEERS rating . Now a days 13 -16 seer AC are very popular . Diff of price between 13 and 16 Seer will be roughly more than 500 CAD
If you hang out in backyard very frequently than I would suggest you to go for higher end model with extra low noise.
Hope this info helps you a little .

Cost of an AC for roughly 2000 Sq ft / R 410 gas / 13 Seer / OEM Carrier will be around 2500 CAD from a reliable source . If you shop around you might find much cheaper guys doing it w/o license .

Called Home Depot and Sears and got this:

Home Depot
BRAND:TRANE

Capacity:1 1/2 Ton R13

10 yr warranty on parts and 1 yr on labour

Sears gave quote for 2 brands for 2 tons. Both are R410 13 SEER

1.Kenmore

10 yr on parts and 5 yr on labour

2.Maratherm

10 yr on parts and 2 yr on labour

Can someone pl. guide me as to which one I should choose amongst these 3 or any other ?

Thanks
