If the current processing time stays at 33 months, you sponsorhip will be approved by December 2010, which is when you will hear from CIC

After they "open" your file, they will assess your eligibility to sponsor your parents and will either approve/reject your sponsorship application. If it is approved, your parents will have to fill a separate set of forms and send in the supporting documentation to the Canadian HC in New Delhi.

If you applied in Aug 2007, at the current processing time of 32 months, you should know around April, if your sponsorship was approved.

I was wondering if anyone had ever had an experience where the parent's sponsorship was rejected due to the parents' health/age reasons.

A friend of mine whose father had a heart issue (although he never had a heart attack) was refused his PR on medical grounds. My friend is now appealing the decision through a lawyer.

This is scary. Our aged parents are bound to have some medical problem or the other.

Medical issues like high BP,arthritis, osteoporosis etc are okay. Its when you get into problems which are deemed to be a "burden" on the Canadian health system, when it starts getting dicey.

Thanks for the reassurance freakoutguy. I guess the only thing to do is hope that the parents keep reasonably good health and that all goes well...
