How much gold can we bring in from India when flying in from India as per Canada Revenue Agency guidelines.

Do we have to declare it in T4?

Thanks,

If you are a little more specific, then, some one may be able to furnish you with a good answer.

For instance, when you are Immigrating into Canada the first time you can bring in a substatial amouont of Gold into Canada. That amount can be found with a query through the CBSA. They will be glad to answer to you with the quantity in ounces and also in Dollars.

But on any foreeign trip that lasts over a few weeks the amount is determined by the annual amount of FREE BAGGALGE ALLOWANCE" provided for a trip. It has increased gradually and if you do see a booklet marked "I DECLARE", please get one and read it at your leisure.

Freddie.

This is if some one is immigrating and landing from outside.

What if someone is doing landing internally in Canada and then go to India and come back to Canada for the first time as "already" immigrant (done landing internally). In this case what are the CBSA and CRA requirements for bringing in gold and cash (in the form of travelers cheques or draft etc..)?

Any idea...

Thanks

There is no difference between landing "internally" vs. "externally".
As long as everything is declared correctly in the Goods-to-Follow list and the immigrant follows the import procedures linked to earlier by Freddie, there's no difference.
You have to make sure that you do the goods list at the time of landing - that is your only opportunity to bring this stuff as part of your immigration landing.
