I've a 6 year old Yamaha amp/receiver and I had the same problem.
I ran a regular wire and one end of it attached to the amp while the other end was attached to the window with edge stripped and attached to the window. This way the whole window became my antenna.
I had problem listening to CMR 101.3 FM indoors and after attaching the window the sound was crystal clear.

The problem seems to be with 101.3 FM's transmitter. I get a poor quality transmission in my car, on my mp3 player and my receiver. I have to keep my mp3 player in away from electromagnetic sources and headphones only in certain position to get a better reception.
I used the similar tactic employed by Vandemataram, and it works fine until the wire is in its place.
Another method (although costly one) is to get a wireless transmitter-receiver, and listen 101.3 fm online and stream music through your receiver.
Meghal,
I will try Window Antena trick again. Otherwise, have you tried Indoor Antena Booster available in Radioshack etc.
