Hi friends !!

Does anyone know a way to make a credit card donation specifically for India?? I have been trying to search, PM relief fund - it does not have an online payment option and most organisations say that they are collecting money for the whole region and not India specifically.

IMO it is not correct to feel only for India. Even if you make payment for India, how can you be sure that Indians are not going to use it for Sri Lanka or Indonesia or any other nation suffering at present. It is a collective rescue / rehabilitation going on for the suffering nation. Whole world is together. Infact India has refused to take aid for the goods they manufacture in India, they have extended help to supply those goods to other nations in need. When our nation has showed generousity why are you calling organization to accept funds for India and communicating wrong message.
If you are specific to help alone India, ask your relatives to buy stuff and deliver it personaly to an "Indian".

hi jago_desi !!

Yup I realised that too and finally made my donation online to Red Cross. I was also surprised that no one on this forum talked about it at all.

Just one more thing that I realised, all that goes on in this forum with almost every message is BASHING !!! Its high time people grow up and respond responsibly, rather than making comments like what you did, inspite of being a senior desi. All I had asked was if there is a way to contribute to India, it was just by chance that I had not seen the news about our PM refusing aid. So most of your message was uncalled for.

Such incidents make one feel that this is not a forum where you can ask what you want freely.

Hope that is not what this forum intends to project.

Cheers
Natasha

hi, at the moment, in bad times, we the lucky ones living in north america and far from even expereincing a bit of reality happening in south asia, should do whatever we can for our community...best way is to donate cash. Organizations like Red Cross, Worldvision are collecting funds.

YMCA of greater Toronto - International YMCA has already sent a huge aid to the relief funds for victims. Ymca of Shrilanka and Kerala, India have engaged in emergency relief work.

If you wish to donate, you can make a cheque to YMCA Canada.

My family is going in the neighbouhood to collect funds so that no one is left out from this opportunity - who really wish to donate but have no time !!

If I could assist you further, contact me at 905-513-3965.

Yesterday BandBaja radio station was collecting money for relief work. Programme is conducted by a Pakistani. A caller called up and pledged $100 saying that his money is to be used for muslim. Radio station refused his money, live on radio. After that almost every third caller commented on poor thaught of that person.

You realised and changed your intentions. I appreciate you for contribution to noble cause. I should not be going on and lecturing you refering to your first post.

Bashing you talk of, go back to that topic and read my apology to the concern people in very next post. But some respected members of the board and some cheallas kept on coming on me. I had to point out my observations.
