I think not possible in 1 year or 2 year.... anymore. May be between 2-3 year possible if you have applied before 2003.
New processing time on delhi website, check the link
http://www.dfait-maeci.gc.ca/new-delhi/servstan-en.asp
It's 43 months.
I have try to get Local MP'S appoitment, but when I call them they said that we have speical person (for immigration) and you can talk to them..you can't meet to MP for that. And the lady who is taking care of immigration issue, is very rude. She told me, it's normal delay. Why you want your parent to be here faster. Just wait for 3-4 years(whatever delhi have informed you) And she was that much rude that she told me, 'if someone is dying, we can do it faster'. I told her, If someone is dying, they will not come here to die.. (what else i can say, if someone talk like this).
Anyone from my area call for MP's help in immigration issue regarding time manner, the call get tranfer to her and then NO HELP.
I was before in USA and doing very well, also my green card was filed in EB2 catagory means you get it in 2 years, I just came to canada because I thought parent immigration is faster here (at that time it was 6 month), so instead of waiting 2 years for green card and then another 3 years to being citizen so 5 years + 6 month if you want them in USA..so canada was faster ..but now better to be there.. atleast you get good money, to buy this kind of 1000 immigration.. oh ya, if you hve 500K then you get it free on business catagory. NO WAITING.. only in 6 month..
Hello Binal,
I couldn't believe that you accepted such type of attitude from MP respresentative. Who is your MP. Please write to him or her detailing all the facts that lady said, wait for his response.
She is working for MP, so if I am going to write to MP dose it going to make sense. She hve talked to me not only once, but 3 times...
really it's not going to make any difference.
She told me same, that rgt now they haven't process 2000 cases, so how come your case be ahead of them.. keep on waiting......
I have done contract in Ministry of Finance, and you won't believe how much corruption inside, but normal people can't see it...it's differnet way.. Also, People almost not work in Goverment (!!!!!!!!) If you ask any new employee, so why you want to ge as goverment employee, they replied me back....because I don't want to work more than 3-4 hours in a day....sometimes absoulty not.. and in goverment, NO one can touch my position.. it's OPS union. so same story must be in immigration department....people come around at 8.30..go for coffee brek for 1hour....answer some phone..then go again at 12.00 for 2 hour break..then again at 3.00 for chating ..socialiizing.. etc..and then go home at 4.00..tht's their normal schedule..
I got offer at minstry of finance to get permanent goverment employee.. I have rejected beause I don't want to be dumb...not working lifestyle.. Also, there are some people who are good and like to work, but other create politics pressure to make them not working..otherwise people who are working hve to work....
so in this kind of enviroment ...if goverment policy get change..they get good enough reason not to process and take rest at job.
It's very SAD.

I like the idea of filing petition. I have already sent an email to skbose. As fas as the post from Binal is concerned, it's too sad to hear such a rude behaviour from a MP's off. I actually had a very good exp from my local MP's off when I used to live near High Park. Now since 2 months we have moved to Mississauga near Sq One. Haven't had a chance to contact local MP here. But I do intend to do so ASAP for parents immigration. One of my friends' work with Toronto Star, I am also gonna check with him, if we can have an article on this subject.
There has to be a way out.
I guess the difference between thinkers and achievers is that the achievers actually ACT upon what they THINK. So someone, somewhere will have to start the ACT. He/She will eventually get the support of others. Let's see what happens. If I get to know anything, I shall post it on this thread immed.
It's really sad that the immigration process is sooooo looooong !!!!!!
It contradicts the very basis of Canadian immigration policy. The point raised by kap is also very true. Since the immigration is taking so long, you would want to visit India and you would sure want to go there for at least 3-4 weeks. I have heard cases where the employers simly ask you to resign....visit India...come back...re-apply as new employee and with new pay-scale.......so sad......you can't go to India....you can't have your parents come here....
I understand that Bluelobster's father did get visitor's VISA even after applying for immigration...that's really nice...but I think that must be an exceptional case....we are still going to try and apply for visitor's VISA for our parents come summer. Hope they get it.
But guys-n-girls let's all try to do something together. Any member who has anything to share abt this topic...pl pl inform all of us.
Happy 2005 to all of us
