I moved to my house a week back.Yesterday, I locked my house and went to check my mail-box down the lane.When I walked back, I stopped at neighbours driveway.When I came back to my house after 15-20 minutes, I saw the main door and my patio door were opened.I checked the whole house.Nothing was taken..Thankfully !!!I assumed that someone must have come in the house but when he would have come to patio, would have seen me and ran away!I called 911.Officers came and made a report.
I m 99.9% sure that I had locked the door but just leaving .1% doubt.But anyhow this incident has alarmed us.
I want to get a home security system installed ASAP.I called ADT and Alamforce.Any other comapany you would recommend?

Ok, by lock, you mean "lock-and-key" type lock? If yes, then you need to replace the entrance lock asap.
It is also possible that it could be just your anxious feelings .. new place, new area, everything new .. lot many things to think about .. and it's possible that you might loose track of small things.
ADT is good. Talk to your friends, what they prefer. Usually the concept is same.
I am using Alarmforce (wireless) for sometime, they are reasonably priced and no hidden fees for the entire term of the contract.

Yes, it is a lock and key type lock and we had changed all the locks after we moved in.
ADT is costing me about $300 for equipment and $34 per month.

Certainly all alarm systems are hooked up on wall. Alarmaforce sensors and keypad are operated on battery not on electrical supply, the main alarm module is connected to electrical power but it has rechargeable battery, so basically it also work on battery, ( I don’t know how ADT claims that these devices can be unplugged to defeat the alarm system). Alarmforce security system can be connected to your home telephone line, in that case all telephone set at home act as 2 way communication device and key pad.
Further, I heard ADT will cover their equipment only for one year under warranty and after that if anything fails you will have to pay to get that defective equipment repaired whereas Alarmforce do not charge for any repair or defective equipment for the whole duration of contract.

I have got a hybrid system (wire + wireless) from Reliance Which was Voxcom earlier. I recommend go for hard wired sensors in the doors and window whereas the motion sensor can be wireless. Wired are percieved to be more reliable, whereas wireless is convinent but you need to keep track of batteries etc.
But yes, it helps to have an alarm system, in addition for $5 pm you can get a manual assistance it also saves you from any penalty if you wrongly raise a false or dummy alarm.
You may want to investigate more on these lines.
Last but not the least it maybe good idea to do graha pravesh puja or navgraha puja depending on your preferences and inclination.
