Hi ,
Though I dormant participant I dont 4get 2 log on every single day and "meet" all of u --- Garvo, Blue Lobster , Sanjiv , Chandresh ,Jake,Kapil and recently Manjeet and Jyoti (pardon 4 mising out sm1 )......... My salutations to all of u to keep the embers smouldering .......... This forum becomes addictive .Imagine how much @ lack of awareness our folks back home wud b had it not been 4 the invaluable contributions by each of u .
This thread has unmistakably brought out the nutshell view of all reasons for and not migrating 2 Canada .I just cannot resist to add my wee bit as this thread has been very very thought provoking being the issue refreshed .
I am currently @ Bahrain , have been in the ME for 4 years + now . Landed @ Toranto 4 a week in October and have been a regular reader of the forum 4 the past 6 months or so . Plan 2 join in 4 good in an year or 2's time ..............pardon the abbrevs pls!!
I think Chandresh's views are very seasoned as he is a person who is elder than most of us has been a successful professional and @ a time would have been no less enthusiastic than us , now. Could be he is what we will be in future . I always regard and reread his mails . Though slightly negative (due 2 experience I guess ) he reasons out succinctly his line of argument .
Why do people come 4m the ME ?? Manjeet has explained that reasonably well as 2 y a person who is earning tax free $2k-3k pm and and almost Indian environment wud need 2 seek 4 greener pastures . This want of residence and permanence hangs like a 'Damocles Sword' on us where by though we are earning well and living comfortably , we are unable 2 "live" our life for lack of that elusive 2morrow !!! . But then Manjeet and Jyoti , we do not know whether we will be the scapegoats after 2-3 years .I have seen ppl earning lifetimes of fortunes in the ME . And , if v r so enterprising abt business how abt trying and setting 1 in the ME ?? But then there is no guarantee of permanence I agree which ironically Canada provides . Even if u have a small business in Canada u cal it ur own and think of its futurity .
Canada --- upon reaching I was surprised 2 find guys making 50k pm in Delhi were surviving by doing sales jobs and the working hours were tight .Though they had a basement Apartment and a car 2 boast off --- future was still a question as there is no monetary security . U live 4 the day and the month ....period . No doubt u r living in a good clean environment , u r a legal permanent resident But lack of occupation brings the unwanted dark side . Ultimately he asked me if I was wary of any opportunities in the ME .
Just imagine these 3 words ----LEGAL PERMANENT RESIENT ---- A friend of mine unable 2 get a Green Card wwas checking the viability of becoming a PR and continue working in the US .
Pluses are -- u r part of an educated , civilized society and as some1 had put it somewhere "the system takes care if u fail " which is exactly the opposite n India (and 1 big reason y I left the country ) -"The system fails u where u care " . Even a millionaire n India is not granted the lifestyle what an average Canadian lives unless of course u r in the "white dress“ category . So guys that’s a big plus .
But are u willing 2 sacrifice ur years of hard earned education, professional knowledge and acumen 4 doing a labor job as Kapil directly puts & I guess the same reason emphasized by Chandresh as well. A big question mark ????. And the very objective of this informative site and forum .
I am reminded of a small anecdote that I had heard as a child . A King punished 1 of his courtesans 4 some fault and gave him 2 choices --- Either bear 100 shoe blows or eat 100 onions .... The guy opted 4 the latter as he felt that the former was humiliating . He ate 10 onions and his eyes started watering .He could take no more and updated his choice ----"Shoe blows please"
First blow , second blow -- third -- 4th ........... The whole court was laughing and our poor guy was feeling hit very badly by the shoe hit. After 20 shoe blows he changed his choice again ----- Onions ..........Not surprisingly he ended up having both the 100 onions and the 100 shoes and still felt comforted somewhat ...............
So dearos , both the options are equally poised .......... 2b or not 2b in Canada .......... Depends how much fight and perseverance u have got 2 achieve the GOAL which needs 2 b redefined . Is it money , permanence or quality of life u r looking 4 ??? Make ur choice . U win some u lose some .
But all said and done quoting sm thing I d read smwhere on the forum .........."4 every single PR who wishes 2 return 2 India there r 100 in a queue waiting 2 come over "
Regards and Best wishes and kudos 2 the whole team of regular participants .

ok
I just wrote that because I don't like staying here. I have lots of friends in India and I miss them a lot. I have a few friends here too but I don't think they can ever take the place of my school friends
And when I go to the mosque sometimes for dinner parties etc.,lots of people are really mean to me so I don't like this place anymore. I used to go to those dinners very often before but now I try to avoid it as much as I can.

every place has its goods and bads. u just have to deal with it.
i got *exactly* what i was looking for when i came here - a cushy housewife position with excellent long-term benefits .
ah, i love not having those frigging deadlines anymore...
seriously, u can research and gripe all u want, it all boils down to what the end result is - if u r still in Canada and don't like it, that's yr choice. if u r not in Canada and want to like it, that's yr choice. u just have yrself to blame (or pat on the back).
Can't really blame/pat Canada for yr own choices, can u?
