Hi Everybody,
Someone trying to steal things from my car has broken the vent glass (driver's side) of my Toyota during. I keep in the car the things required to carry out my job. All are electronic and electro-mchanical parts required for office automation products.
I want to know:
Is it is worth informing police(nothing lost from the car).
Can that be claimed from insurance withou affecting my premium.
Where can I get this fixed at less cost.( I have enquired with a parts dealer who quoted me$ 75 for glass and $ 50 for installation. Is it reasonable?)
Please suggest
Raj
There are a few after market parts sellers and if any of them are close by where you are, price it first from them. While you are at one location find out the parts name and the number that they have on their system also. Then choose the lowest price quoted for the part.
Next ask the nearby mechanic the cost of installation. I am sure they charge you more than 75 bucks per hour. So, see if it totals to the price quoted by the garage that gave you the 125 bucks for the repair with parts.
Then decide for your self. Some of us avoid the hassle and settle down with one mechanic and get it done right there.
Hope this helps you a little.
Freddie.
1) Canadian Tyre.
2) Part Source
3) Others in the neighborhood. See Yellow Pages for Auto Parts sellers.
Thank you very much Freddie for the reply.
I have enquired from another service centre who quoted me $ 150 with installation. I feel there would not be much difference, so I will go with the first agent.
Thanks
Raj
