Just wondering if Skype is worth using for Long distance in North America
It says $2.98 unlimited for NA

How is quality of calls?

What options for making payment?
I don't want to use Credit card.
Some one suggest me to use Paypal
Anything else? Like i-tunes & other downloads, we can buy card & then use for downloading

Also not sure, if new member has to pay connection fees, can some one confirms me?

If not skype, what option is best for long distance in NA. At present I am using calling cards roughly around $10-12 in months

Thanks

I have been using it for 1 year. Great plan; especially for the price.

call quality is good. Have seen some problems; but good overall.

No connection fees, no hidden fees. Use paypal.

I have purchased a Linksys Skype cordless phone. Dont even have to sit in front of the comp to make a call. You can even get a phone adapter which allows you to use the same cordless phone as the local phone company for skype calling.

Much better than the gouging rates by the long distance companies here.

I've been using this for more then 1.5 years now. Excellent voice quality most of the time. Never got server busy or dropped call etc. No connection fees at first time for new users. Check website for current update, when I registered for 6 months I got some balance in my account which I can use to any other long distance call. This didn’t expire even after 6 months.

For payment you can use Paypal.

I have tried the free version. It gets disconnected after couple of minutes and will ask you to upgrade to the paid version. I then switched to Skype North America plan when there were some issues with my home phone.

I have been using Skype since past few months. I am impressed with the quality. I use V-tech cordless phone (dual internet and landline), paid some $45.00 inclusive of taxes for phone only (available at the Future Shop). One can buy their unlimited North America package for under $3.00 pm. Calling landlines from skype phone is as good as any other conventional phone services.

For calls outside North America I use Reliance India. I call directly from my cell phone via Reliance software that has been downloaded on my Blackberry.
