This will be the first federal election in which I can cast my vote to decide upon which party will eventually rule Cananda next.
I would like to vote for a leader / party which/who will increase jobs for immigrants, reduce the discrimination of the immigrants for jobs, give tax breaks to immigrants for the first 5 years in Canada and reduce the hassles of be or to atleast someone whose views / policies are immigrant friendly.
To me Stephen Harper is a high minded jerk whose sole aim is to see that he crushes the liberal party, gets a majority, hard handed, sole authority and I donot think that he is very progressive (as his party name suggests)
Stephene dion is seen to me as a very weak leader with no brains for leadership.I have had the honour of listening to some radio talk shows in which he was the guest and he was unable to even defend his principles.
Is the NDP the only left choice?? or is it b'cos Jack layton is not in the news as often as the liberals or the conservatives?
if CD's convince me that NDP will not be immigrant friendly, I have no choice except to vote for the conservative.
What do other CD's think about the election?
Peace

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
I would prefer to see a minority government again. BUT for sure will not vote for Stephen Harper. Hopefully after this election Liberal would have a new leader.
This election is being dumped upon us without any need of it just due to subjective differences between political parties. I personally believe this will again result in one of a minority government. There is exactly no point of election when there is no close-to-perfect choice for the people to vote for. Present leaders of all the party are useless, unless they show some initiative while campaigning for the elections.
It’s now upto how they go for the campaigning & what all new benefits comes up as their agendas. One thing for sure the carbon tax is surely a crap unless they exclude the middle class families providing them enough tax breaks in exchange of the tax.

i..........rock........!!!!!
I am a liberal supporter, although personally my thoughts lie in-between liberal and conservative ideologies.
However, I am going to vote for conservative just for this stupid green shift tax. In layman terms, green shift means you pay more for non-petrol fuel, but you get tax credit. This tax does not take into account the increased commodity price due to the increase in fuel costs. Second, the tax credit is only applicable to low and middle income families. So I bear the brunt at both ends.
Also, I believe that media is unnecessarily criticising Harper for his stern and non-friendly approach. But in last two and half years, he hasn't done anything bad that would make me vote against him.
It is a sad part of parliamentary democracy, that I would vote for conservative MP although I am satisfied with my current liberal MP. I am penalising my MP for the sake of penalising Dion
The most strange thing I note here is that the PM who 'claimed' and received the confidence of the house 2 years ago, is today desperate to prove that he has lost the confidence of fellow members....while those in the opposition are crying foul and want to continue with this 'minority' govt., even though they are not in power..
Looks like no one wants the power...
I havent seen anything positive about Harper except the GST cut. Infact I see him kind of manipulator/bully and all the time challenging the opposition to vote him out - ever since he came to office. Unfortunately, there is no competent opposition leader to vote for..
Dion doesnt even know how to defend his own Carbon tax and started off by announcing subsidies to those effected.. ..if you wanted to subsidize, why charge in the first place? If the carbon tax has any merit, atleast DION has been unsuccessful in promoting it.. Why was he chosen the leader? Just because he is from Quebec? I think Michael Ignatieff was pulling his leg by complementing DION on his bravery to put forward the Carbon Tax.
Just like the dilemma in India, I will have to choose the least bad amongst the lot...
I have no knowledge of NDP (except seeing Jack Layton on TV a few times) or the Green party...are they any good?
