How much a single bed accommodation,Groceries and Gas/Transportation + pocket money?? would cost a month.
700 CND a month? per person??which part of Toronto or Ottawa 'll suit this budget??
Would you mind if I ask you to give a breakup:D
1000 CND for 6 months is fine with me.
Thanks for the info.I am just closingin on my budget for the relocation.

Regards.

Hi Maplestar,
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>.
where do I stand in this scenario?

I mean with US IT experience can I take any chances to dream about a good job
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Because you have still 3 months time before you actually land here in Canada my sincere advice will be give your 100 % effort to arrange for interview via all reputed IT related stuffing agencies.Look for the agencies name in Yellow Pages and start talking and sending your resume ...if you clear the initial telephonic interview and qualify for final face to face interview you could get job before you finally move.It actually happened for my case.
I am not sure which IT area you worked so far but for sure Canadian IT market is picking up in some high end area.. so if you have solid US experience and technical skill with good soft skills finding a IT job in your own field won't be very difficult.
If you need more info feel free to send me PM.
Best of luck:)
:)

Hi Ani70

That was nice and motivating feedback from you.

Can you give me suitable advice as to how i should proceed.

I am BE+ Mgmt+ CFA by background and was working in IT industry for last 7 years in India. Last i was working on Oracle Financials as a functional consultant. Now i am in Canada since last week and have started job hunt by applying to various agencies i got thru the workopolis.

Any suggestions for me. Would request you to kindly give your opinion. Also request any other forum member who can give some useful tips.

Thanks

Dilip Sharma

I did receive quite a few calls to my applications even before I landed in Canada (was in NJ before coming here). Toronto obviously has the most number of IT jobs, but the competition is also higher. The company that I have now joined is also paying a relocation incentive to relocate to Vancouver! (I first came to Toronto and was there a couple of weeks).

If you haven't done it already, post your resume in monster.ca and workopolis. I got my present job by doing that.

BTW, what are your skills? With 10 years experience and 6 in US, you should not have problems getting a decent job in IT.

Ani70,

Thats a wonderful and an excellent idea and I really thank you for the positive note. I guess I need to start applying for jobs and post my resume on different job sites like monster.ca and workopolis as you suggested. Are there any IT staffing/recruiting/consulting firms other than these 2 sites.

I am an UNIX (SUN Solaris) admin with SAN,VXVM &Netbackup skills.

Experts advice on this forum is welcome and highly appreciated.

Rgds,

-MS.
