With your experience and edcation, you should be able to land a job as soon as arrive in Canada. They are simply dying for professionals like you with experince in multinational finance companies and US banks.

Depending on your lifestyle, you will have to bring in anywhere from $20K upwards to settle down initially......and then ofcourse your cushy job will help you lead the life you want to. Looking at your credentials, you might want to have a nice car and house immediately......in that case you might want to bring in a few hundred k with you.

Financial advise would be to bring EVERYTHING you own (except may be car, but even that is allowed) and can buy as owned for some time, since there is no duty for first time - and so why spend on what you already have. However, you might want to start a life all anew and then you can bring only what you might feel very essential because you can get almost everything in Canada that you can get in India.

You shouldn't have problem buying a car in Canada if you have US credit history. I purchased a new vehicle 2 months after landing in Canada on the basis of US credit history...no problem.

Ask your car insurance agent in US to give you a claims history document, it will facilitate getting car insurance at better rates in Canada. You driving experience in US will count toward driving history in Canada.

Also find out the contact info for your state driver license issuing authority (most probably, dept. of public safety or transportation) as you can exchange your US driver license with a Canadian one w/o any tests. Only thing required will be that the driving license authority in US state fax a copy of your driving record directly to the license office in Canada where you are applying for driver license.

Only thing which may trip you in your job search will be any Canadian equivalent certifications required for your job field. If you have good contacts in past US employers and they have locations in Canada, ask them to help you contact their Canadian peers.

Mr. Amin,

I would suggest you to search Canadain specialized job sites such as Workopolis.ca and monster.ca for finding a job in your field and apply even before you come here. Or, alternatively, you can post your resume on these sites and let the potential employer know about yourselves and the employers would contact you if they have any job openings with them for a person with such qualification, nice exposure and experience as you have.

Good luck

Another piece of advise, since it is free..
Start sending your resumes to canadian firms from US with US address and phone no. I am sure you will receive interview calls within days!!
