Visited Chicago this week.
Contrary to my imagination, Chicago was a very dull and drab place. Not much to see and parking extremely costly. I would not recommend it as a place to visit.
Things were extremly expensive there. Even the local Walmart has prices 20% more than the cdn. walmart (assume Cdn$ and US$ at par).
Got a very good deal for the hotel near the airport for Cdn$ 150 for a 2 night stay in a double bedroom + free breakfast + free parking.
One could earn well in Chicago by washing car windscreens at intersections / selling stuff to the car window at intersections as I found lots of people doing that.

Tk you did opposite of everything you wrote in here...you planned vacation in June went now...wanted to work...Cheaper accommodation and paid CDN $150...what happened....sudden change of heart?

I did exactly as asked for in most respects....
I stayed at a hotel for Cdn $75 a night w/o bedbugs in Chicago with free parking (normal parking $25-$35 a night)and very near the airport. I made sure that I took 2 extra people for the continental free breakfast and we ate to a hearts content free (Normal charge for 1 person would be atleast $15). I did not go in June as I went to Uk instead. But I did visit detroit in June for a few hours.
I actually go no response from CD and my internet searchs as to how I could work in Chicago for some cash. However, I did find out how I would work in Chicago if I needed to (sell or provide services at intersections).
So what did I loose? (except that Chicago was a crap city to visit)

It is yr right to have wrong priorities but you don't need to be so open abt it ...
