We have got PR and will be moving to mississuaga in April 08, i have got one friend there hope he will be helpful to us.

We need little help from you experts.

(1) I am programmer but not interested in programming but very keep on learning SAP and want to continue learning and will look for Odd jobs or other field job. I want to start from scratch . Am i correct.

(2) We are three me, wife and 8 yr daughter. Is taking basement apartment good idea, or apartment is good. Where can i stay initally at Mississuaga ... pls provide some guest house address or hotel address.

(3) We want to take Jet Airways flight which is available from Chennai, will there be any problem if we go from Delhi to chennai and take flight. I mean Immigration or any other type of problem.

(4) After landing at Toronto and making PR, SIN , Health card etc, if we get job in other city is it possible to move easily or there are some formalities to be done before moving.

(5) How to carry settlement amount from India, and which bank is good to open account and where to invest that amount.

YES, you are correct.

Please search the classifieds section on this website for temp accomodations. While I personally would advise against living in a basement, it is your choice. Personally I feel, the area around Square One in Mississauga is preferable.

No, why should there be any?

I would think a bank draft and some amount in travelers checks would be ideal but other desis and plenty of other posts on this forum cover this.

Hi,

1) if you have a strong background in programming and are senior in that and you know your job, you can get into the field after some struggle.

Learning SAP and taking education from scrap is a very very costly affair, if you are really inclined to it, learn in india , delay your coming to canada and become a Certified SAP programmer.

Trust me learning from scratch here with jobs is not at all easy, it is like chewing steel balls

2) Basement apt is good idea, but take care that the basement is near a public transit bus stop.

3) PM if you need any personal help, i am in mississauga.

Why do you want to go to Chennai to catch the flight, Get Jet flight from Delhi to New York and change it to Chennai Toronto flight at Brussels. That's how all Delhi pax come from Delhi to Toronto by Jet Airways

We have just visited Canada in feb., got our PR card, we stayed in mississauga.

We have no friends and relative in canada So did a lot of search and home work before landing there.This community desis are of great help too.

With my experience I can advice you something regarding accomodation,instead of taking a basement or staying in hotel ,you can take a furnished one or two bedroom flat with kitchen facilities[,for a month or two -till you get your things transferred from India.
and very important to have internet connection free with the rent as initially in searching house or job or even location of offices you can find out thru internet.[i guess you are carrying laptop with you ]

Initially try to stay near square one [shopping mall]which also has Go transit bus station.

most of the shopping malls I hve seen in mississauga have notice board display of vacancies and house to rent etc.

Local phone calls[ from landline are free within canada] ,
Also u can get free copies of different classifieds in newspaper boxes which will be helpful to you in your serch for accomodation and job.

You can search house to stay /rent for longer period while staying there.
You will get lot of information booklets from airport welcome service counter[free of cost]-which will also help you ....
Also if u google flats to rent in GTA canada you will get many results.
