Hi,
I will be moving to Calgary in March with my wife and 2 kids who are going to elementary and middle school. I am looking for good apartment community in NW Calgary, which has good schools and the presence of Indians.
I explored online many areas like bowness, varsity, dalhousie, brentwood but get confused. How is Kensington village in NW?
I would appreciate if someone can guide me soon,as I don't have much time.
**PS - It was typo to write SW instead of NW. Sorry
Tapak,
If u r looking for apartment in SW, try any boardwalk.
Also there is one Pinnacle building near Southland Drive
One more - Wylewood in Bonaventure Drive
All this apartments are reasonal rates & good locations
If you have kids with School as preference, try to stay somewhere in SW
It has all kinds of Schools with different Programs
Most of South Asian are staying in Evergren, Bridlewood, Somerset
But those communities have no / very few rental apartment
If you want near transit stations, try few rental apartment near Somerset station. Its little expensive but very near to station
Let me know if u have any specific question

Kensington Village is a party place close to downtown. It may be a good place for you only but with two kids, you are better off avoiding this.
Dalhousie is a good community. There are a good number of apartments around the ctrain / bus terminal with good shopping. There are good schools in this area and my kids go to school in this community.
Brentwood / varsity are a bit old community in the viscinity of U of C. There are also a good number of apartments but commuting may be an issue if you are considering public transportation.
Hope this helps.

Thank you for your reply gktaurus. If you don't mind telling, what schools do your kids go to?
I keep looking for 2/3 bedroom apartment in NW but very few have more than one bath. Initially, we would like to go for month to month basis, if not, I am ok with 6 months lease. This will give us a chance to move elsewhere if we don't like the place.
I would appreciate if you can share few names of apartment communities in Dalhousie.
Thanks again.

I would appreciate if someone can point out to reliable RE agent specially dealing in NW Calgary (Varsity/Dalhousie/Brentwood/Bowness).
I haven't had good options by posting in Kiijii and craigslist so far.
