Hi Friends,

I would like to know from you, based on your experience and knowledge, I'm planning to put/install a GPS (Global Positioning System) in my Car (Toyota Corolla' 98). Please advise me if you know of specific brand or anything which may be of help? I'm looking for somthing basic that works and not jazzy or to show off. Thanks for your help and support.

Regards,
kisi

If you are looking for basic function without blue-tooth, than this TomTom ONE 3rd Edition GPS Portable Car Navigation System for $ 149.96 at Staple.ca is good price.

or Garmin nuvi 660 (@ $450.00 ) with bluetooth include. I like with blue tooth as for long drive it is good when you have to used phone frequently. I am waiting a right deal for this kind of model.

Thanks Parth 1970 for a quick reply,

I would appreciate if you could explain me what are the use of Blue Tooth and how will that be more useful, I would like a GPS to tell me where to turn in order to reach to a destination 'B' from 'A'. But since I don't know anything i would be happy if you could educate. For now I don't've a cell phone but I may have in future, so please explain little more. Thanks a lot for your time.

cheers!

If you're shopping online at Staples, use a filler and $20 of $150 coupon (67560) to get it down to around $130 plus tax.

Talking about turn directions, you should be aware of the TTS (text to speech) feature.

Basic GPS systems (like the TT One) do not have this feature. What this means is that a TTS system will tell you 'Turn right onto Elm St in 500 m'.

A non-TTS unit will just say 'Turn right in 500m'.

Just something to be aware of....

You may get cheaper deals online form dealstobuy etc but they have older maps (more then 2 years old) so you will have to spend money to upgrade your map.

I had gone to a cell phone store in Etobicoke and they informed a cell phone with built in GPS would be available in about 2 weeks without any fee to use GPS and it wud cost approx $500 with the blue tooth feature.
