Bhanu Athaiya for best costume design - Gandhi
Satyajit Rai - Lifetime achievement
Gulzar - Best lyrics - Slumdog...
ARR - Best song and background score - Slumdog
Resul Pookutty - Best sound mixing - Slumdog

I believe there is still one person from India/Indian origin who won an Oscar few years before. Cannot recollect..

I agree...he should have prepared a good speech knowing that he is standing a good chance of getting the award. He was representing India and had a good opportunity to make an impression..
