I am planning to get a motorcyle and wanted to know:

1. How much does it cost for insurance? (I could get quotes online, but wanted to get an idea from current owners)

2. What are the associated running costs given it'll be parked for six months of the year...do you still pay insurance for that period?

Any insight would be appreciated. I searched the forum for any such previous discussion and couldn't find one...

--Insurance depends on the type of bike u'll get. State farm is your best friend for motorcycle insurance and they go with the size of engine. the more CC you got in engine, higher ur premium will be. also if you get super sport (sports bike) you have to pay premium on them, meaning higher insurance premium compare to cruisers, touring bikes, dual sport or sports touring.

2. What are the associated running costs given it'll be parked for six months of the year...do you still pay insurance for that period?
--yes you will pay insurance for full year, you can switch to liability only during winter and go back to full in summer. the maintenance cost is not much either. get your regular oil change n keep the chian clean n lubed u'll be all set.
