IMO, I feel that you need to cover your body fully when doing a job. By this, I mean that you need not wear neatly pressed and colormatched cloths all the time (although i admit that i admire/respect more decently dressed people than otherwise) but only that you dress up to cover your deficiencies.
What i mean is that if you have a lot of hair on the legs, then wear pants all the time. If your toe nails are not properly groomed then wear shoes all the time.
In my office we have a dress code as mentioned above for the males but for females there is no dress code at all and this irritates me sometime since the females are very skimpyly dressed and this affects how i work in office.
India was so nice, in the sense that everyone covers up their body in full while doing a job.
Giving you an example, I would hate to see my male manager in shorts having a lot of hair on his legs / no oil on his legs. It would irritate me to see such a scene. I would have no respect for him at all.
Having said this, on weekends, if some male works , i would prefer casual cloths as agaist shorts etc..
Also we have some chinese people in our office whose mouth smells very badly when talking to them. I avoid these people.
I also hate desi's with mush which is dirty or unevenly trimmed.

How comes you always have this knack of always opening up a can of worms?

Do the worms need to be fully clothed with shaved legs, oil on legs and breath smelling of fresh mint?:) :)

R U jealous that you don't posses that 'skill'

BTW, I couldn't stop laughing (at work) when I read your comment. It was so appropriate :jump3:

:D Yup, that's it, I'm jealous I don't have the ability to refrain from looking at my colleagues bare legs/arms/or down their cleavage because it distracts me from working. I'm also jealous that I do not have such a narrow minded approach to how I feel people should dress at work, and cover their "deficiencies" (whatever that means).

The point I was making is toward discipline. Just becuase it is 28-30C outside does not mean that someone has to wear tight shorts and low neck T-shirts (dont tell me how did I observe this; I have to deal with them everyday). In the equitorial regions like India or south asia it is hot most of the time (at least in south india). I dont see anyone wearing shorts and T-shirts to work, at least not in the public sector. As I have observed, desi born folks always wear pant and shirt (yesterday it was 36C in ottawa). A three piece suit is not needed, at least pant and shirt is enough for men.

don’t really understand why this is being made a big issue here. It is definitely a matter of personal choice, which is something that need to be respected.

One of the things that I love about Canada is the freedom of choice. You are not bound by a set of rules here, you live your life in your own way.

If im not mistaken, this chap is the same one who was complaining, about women walking without dupatta in Canada, due to the heavy strain it was placing on his eyes to avoid looking at their breasts.

Since there seems to be a lack of control over the eyes...I'd suggest having it checked. Preferably by a disciplined male doctor in a 'regular pant and shirt' :D .
