I am not surprised about this. These things are bound to happen, I donot blame those on the front lines, but those who are behind this with their idealogy never gets punished.

If you want to put it that way...
The choices are:
Appeasment of our most important trading partner(which is supremely in our self interest...since we will not be much without the same). Even without considering that our sytems are built on similar democratic ideals, any direct or indirect harm to the interests of the US affects us in the long run.
and
appeasement of a group (which has no democratic interests whatever) hoping that they do not turn on us because we are 'sitting it out' while they go about laying the foundations of an islamic caliphate(wahabbi interpretation) where even some sects of islam will be inferior?
Am I correct in my summation? Do we stand up for our 'values' or stand down hoping the badguys do not notice us?

It is in the best interests of our nation to have an integrated immigration system with that of USA. That way, only people cleared by security checks from these three(US, Canada and Mexico) countries would be able to legally set foot in North America.
There are lots of jihadi idiots who come to Canada and probably owe their job to our trade with US but still hate US. Their eyes are blinded by religious extremisim and they are brainwashed in those extremist religious schools.
Also Canada should ban preaching of any form of religious hatred like the UK did a few years back.
if Canada were to have an "integrated immigration system with that of the USA", a lottt of people who are here, and come here, and contribute to the local economy (and the Indian economy) wouldnt be here, and wouldnt be able to get here at all.
who is to say that we cannot have an "independent" immigration system that caters to the needs and the socio-economic conditions prevelant in Canada ?
"their eyes" are CERTAINLY "blinded by religious extremism". I agree.
What about the "people" whose "eyes are totally blinded by monetary/financial gains and supremacist ideologies" ?
Why doesnt anyone go and establish "democracy" in a lot of other nations that need it the most ?
Where does the "blindfold" originate ??? and what is the demarcating line for it ? (i wonder what is the force that is "detrimental" in having the P word nation as an ally ??? there must be SOME blindfold !!!)
i totally agree with the last part.... professing, and encouraging hatred, be it religious, social, economic, or in any other form should not be tolerated at all.....

You are dead on with ur summation, and have summarised the situation very well.
its all a question of striking the correct balance.
......and understanding that the choices we make are bound to have their "side-effects", whether we like them or not, whether they are politically and morally correct or not.

Every religion has nutjobs like these. Unfortunately these nutjobs have govts that prop them up.
I couldnt agree with you more.
Its almost unbelievable how religious leaders feed on ignorance and blind faith of its followers. Fundamentalism is often nothing but a coverup for one's failures, weaknesses, greed or insecurity.
Regarding the events here, what concerns me is that we too have the same skin color, as the ***** in the headlines.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but somewhere in this message, there's a notion that if we take actions that are morally correct, we will then see countries like Iran promoting peace and tolerance. That the "side effect" in that case would be more peace and understanding. And extremists of all religions will begin to be more tolerant of our way of life.
Do you seriously think that would happen? I don't. There is NO olive branch option here. The only option to vigorously pursuing national interest is to subscribe to their way of life. These are "my way or the highway" (more like "What I said or your head" ) kind of guys here.

Are you there?
