Help needed to log in yahoo messanger

Hi Y M users,

I am unable to login into yahoo messanger with my existing yahoo ID and password.
I tried all the combination explained in the help section of it but in vain.I am using the AOL dial up service provider and the system is windows XP.

Could anybody help me out ??

Have you tried to contact them by filling feedback form?

Otherwise can try reinstalling messenger, clearing cookies, .....

I have already tried filling their feedback form. They mailed me the same page for its solution which was in the help section of yahoo messanger.Nothing is working out.

Sometime I get the Y M smiling face showing 'signing in',but never get in
and sometimes gives 'unable to connect' ' try other settings in messenger page .

Do you have a firewall installed that might be preventing it?

I think XP SP2 enables the firewall by default.

check if you are having the same problems with other IMs like MSN.

The XP firewall does not prevent Yahoo messenger.
In fact, I have noticed that even some corporate hardware firewalls can't prevent Yahoo IM, but succeeds in blocking MSN IM.

I am not sure exactly how Yahoo IM communicates with the server, but I remeber reading once that first it tries to open a direct port and if it fails, it switches to HTTP.
HTTP is not blocked on most firewalls so Yahoo succeeds, while other IMs like MSN fail over firewalls.

pksatpathy, have you tried to login from another computer? If you can, you login is okay and you can try switching to another version. Search google and you can find various versions of yahoo messenger and other multiple messengers in one like indiatimes that include yahoo messenger in them.
