PTM,

You have taken right decision. You can try for getting business from US/Canada for accounting, etc. That way you can visit these countries & stay in India & thereby get the best of both.

Rgds.

IT DEPENDS ON PERSON TO PERSON HOW THEY LIKE CANADA. I AM NOT A GOOD LOVER OF CANADA STILL YOU MAY FIND THE OPPORTUNITY IN CANADA AT THE AGE OF 40. WHAT CAN YOU DO THERE AT THE AGE OF 40 IF YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY ROOTS OR LINKS. DO YOU THINK YOU CAN SETTLE A GOOD LIFE IF YOU MOVE 500KMS AWAY FROM YOUR HOME IN INDIA? IF YOU THINK OF YOUR CHILDREN FUTURE DO NOT HESITATE AND COME AT THE EARLIEST. IF YOU ARE A SINCERE WORKER THERE IS A LOT OF OPPORTUNITIES FOR C.A's YOU CAN DO CPA AND START YOUR OWN PRACTICE OR WORK WITH ANY ACCOUNTING FIRM ACCORDING TO YOUR CALIBRE

That power generation plant idea was good. I also came to Canada in my forties and facing difficulty in getting a right job even after having a good 14 years of experience working at power generation sector as engineer. That is right, normally hydro electric plants are located in upper altitude in mountains, no pollution and very nice, clean and simple life. Going to crowds of Delhi with fat pocket once every month is not a bad idea. So the whole thing work like this- be in Canada, earn (and save) lot of dollars. Please dont ask how to do that. I have also known this from others that some people become rich here. Set up a hydel plant aka Swadesh style and enjoy the good of both worlds. I have all the callculations for B.E.P. and economics. In fact I had the same plans being in this field of planning, commissioning and running hydro plants for years.

LD and ULSHE,
thanks for ur good wishes.
i had thrown the dead weight i was carrying since last 7 years.
4 years ---for waiting visa
3.5 years --- three visits to canada, understanding and trying to get a job
even during last month i got my ticket twice and cancelled at the last moment while packing the bags.
really tough time. only one regret i could made in canada and another i lost my valuable time in chasing this canada dream which cost lost of money.i would have expanded my work here manifold ,had i not persued canadian immigration. any way it is all for the best. any way i am relieved though still trying to come over hangover.
i appreciate my friends in CD understand state of my mind.
my congratulations to those who stayed there and are successful.
my best wishes to those are still trying to make it there.
one thing i must say ,CD is a great site. had one of my friend in canada not told me about it , i would had gone again to canada 4th time. the site is really very informative and eye opener.
this might be my last interaction with CD as i am no longer
canadian ...offcourse i am desi.

Yes it is all for the best! You have done the right thing by finally giving up the Canadian dream.

Don't be sad. Don't feel that you have taken a wrong decision. In the position that you are in, where you are doing fairly well in India, and at your age, it makes no sense at all to to move anywhere. It would be senile to give up a satisfactory business and good regular income for the advantages of smooth roads, low pollution and less population etc.

India is good. India is beautiful! Stay in your country. It provides several benefits, many perhaps non materialistic, but that you cannot hope to get here.

Enjoy the company of your friends, family and relatives. Enjoy the mild winters!

Enjoy the Benarsi Langra mangoes and Bhagalpur leechees! Enjoy buying fresh vegetables, meat and fish and haggling over the price!

Enjoy dodging the crowds and the cows! Enjoy the foods served at dhabaas and the chai at your favorite road side stall!

Enjoy the casual evening saunter to the roadside paan shop and enjoy the "paan ki gilori" of your choice!

Enjoy walking with your arm on your best friend's shoulder without being branded as "gay"!

Enjoy all your favourite TV serials on STAR Plus and other channels.

Enjoy looking at and admiring the beautiful young Indian women and their beautiful dresses! ( I am just so fed up of these huge fat white asses in pants!)

India rocks! Love and enjoy it man!
