Hai,
My friend came to Canada on Visit Visa then applied for Refugee status and recently he got Refugee status.
Can anyone tell me, will he get any benifits as Refugee.
He went to HRDC to enquiry about the benifits but they informed no special benifits to the refugee.
How correct is this ?
Will he get any benefits from the Candian Govt, as he became refugee after comming here.

If he has been told by HRDC, what else remains to cause any doubt? Hasn't he benefitted enough already by getting his refugee status? What else does he expect? Free housing, clothing and a job on a platter?

You are not believing HRDC and you are willing to take advices from guys on CD forums.
If Canadian govt start giving benifits to all visitors/converted-refugees, i guess govt will go bankrupt in no time!!

Comming abt the Govt, don't worry they have lot of our money in the form of taxes.

Refugee Applicants usually get IFH (Interim Federal Health) and can apply for an SIN and a work permit. Refugee applicants can also get welfare and legal aid.
Successful refugee applicants are eligible for Provincial healthcare (OHIP etc.) and can travel, as long as they have a travel passport from Passport Canada.
