I am sorry for the confusion.I have got canadian PR status(immigrant visa) and am planning to apply for PR card after landing .

However I wanted to fill the form in advance (since I am in U.S. only and do not plan to spend too much time in Canada right now because of my job here)

So my question is

(a)Does a new immigrant need to fill the details of address/employment details for past 5 years ?
What should new immigrant do in that section-leave it blank/write NA (Not applicable) ?

(b)Does a new immigrant need to get documents notarised (1st page of First page of Passport/photographs/landing paper IMM5292 etc)

If we need to get it notarised I will not be able to complete the form and submit it at the airport .

Thanks a ton

Rohit

You don't need to fill out the Application form if you haven't landed yet. Just carry couple of photographs (if you dont' have it, they will take it when you do your landing proces).

Basically, you just do your landing process when you arrive and they mail you your PR card within 2/3 weeks. So you don't need any notarized documents, just whatever you would bring for your landing process.

The PR card application and notarized documents are only for people who have already landed more than a year back and are now applying for the card.

Now my question to anybody who's applied within the last couple of months from the Toronto / GTA area. Have you gotten your letter for the pickup yet and how much time did it take you to get that?

Garvo:

PR card is not issued at the airport. It is mailed to the address provided upon landing [or new immigrant has to provide address within 180 days of landing].

Sorry Massood, I meant application for PR Card. Thanks for the clarification.

As the PR card takes some time ...
Tell me what should an individual do who plans to return to India after about week/10 days stay in canada....

Have to go back to India for important personal works and cannot postpone visiting Canada as the Immigration VISA will expire...

Is it possible to visit canada for such a short period and apply for all necessary cards etc... and go back to India and apply for temporay one time entry pemit with fee of CAD 50 in India.... And come back to Canada at ones own convinenace.....

Probably, I have answered my question myself.... Will anyone evaluate that wheather I am correct???

For new immigrant after the start ofPR cards, the card is posted to the address given by the immigrant. (unlike the old immigrants who landed before introductionof PR card - they have to go the office on an appointed date to coleect it).

Therefore, in your case, you can land in Canada, give an address of your friend where you can receive your card and go back to India or whatever. Once the card has been received, it can be couriered to you (DONT rely on normal mail) and you can then enter Canada with that card.

But beware - if there is any problem in the first processing of your card - god knows what shall be the outcome. My cousin landed in June, went back to Europe where he worked and recently came back. His wife and child have gone toIndia and intend to come here in early 2004. Unfortunately for them, card for the wife is not processed because of some error in the photograph!!!! Now they are busy finding the solution to this problem!
