you can check out their website as they use multiple networks.

Bell Mobility and Telus Mobility use CDMA network.
Rogers AT&T Wireless replaced their TDMA network with GSM network.

This seems to the topic I was also interested in. Can any further provide information on:
Do they have post paid or pre-paid SIM cards or both?
Is it a good idea to carry my existing GSM handset from India?
what are the normal/likely charges for the services( i.e. a prepaid GSM card)?
Can I buy a SIM card at the airport itself- just after landing?
And finally I require a cell connection for just a month after landing.....which GSM -SIM would you recommnend.

Yes.
But for post paid, you need good credit history. For new immigrant that's impossible for first 6 months.

Depends upon the model.
India uses two GSM networks.
GSM 900 (Aircel, BPL, BSNL, ESCOTEL, IDEA, Reliance, Spice, RPG)
and
GSM 1800 (AirTel, Hutchison)
But in Canada Fido and Rogers uses GSM 1900 network.
The dual band (900/1800 mhz) phones will not work in the North America.
So your model have to be tri-band (supports GSM 900, GSM 1800 and GSM 1900 networks) phone
So that means only a pre-paid card.
I ahve a Nokia 6100 which is Triband.(and I have been sending SMS etc through the same to US)
But will the cell companies allow me to use my own handset or will they levy extra charges?
