I got a ticket for speeding (60 in a 50 Zone). $40. Sent in the check soon.
Today the check was returned and with a note saying:
----------------------------------------
"The certificate of offence was filed late by the police. This ticket has been refused by the court and returned to the police.

No payment is required by you.

Please note that this does not prevent the police from taking further action by re-issuing the charge by way of summons."
---------------------------------------
Anyone else had this experience.

yes, now if they send you a ticket you have the right to appeal. The officer who issued ticket to you has to appear at court to justify ticket. If officer is absent the ticket get nullified like it has been done by court now.

But what do I appeal?

I have already admitted guilt.

if you get a fresh ticket you can appeal for that if you wish to. The ticket number you have right now is not valid anymore. court has moved on that ticket.

:p bison

I think premium increases if there is claim on ur policy. I know a friend who had two minor accident in interval of 2 days both reported to police however his premium has not gone up. Infact he got the standard renewel dissount on his policy. I guess premium increase is based on claimed amount.

Funny, but I thought they ignored a 10kmph overrun on the posted limit!! Even on expressways, 120kmph is quite ok. I do that all the time.
