This is regarding one of my close friend.

He is in Canada since about 1 year on PR basis. In coming days he is gonna get married to an Indian girl. The girl incidentally has already applied on Independent Skilled Category basis about a year back.

In this situation, what is the best way for my friend to sponsor his wife after the marriage is solemnised in India ?

Will the previously filed applicaton of be some help ?

Your expert feedback would be appreciated.

Best option:

He sponsors her as his spouse. She could be here in six weeks [the earliest].

She can withdraw the previous application.

1. Can the wife sponsorship procedure be initiated during the stay of my friend(boy) in India ? Or is it required to be processed in Canada only ?

2. Is there any minimum annual income criteria for sponsoring the spouse ?

Massood Sir,

While sponsoring the spouse from Canada, please clarify the following:

1. As there is no specific income criteria for the Sponsor, what explanation should be given to take care of the CHECKLIST (IMM 5491) requirement at Serial Nimber 17.

2. Also the Serial No. 18 0f Checklist IMM 5491 asks for evidence of self employment income (statement of business activities) over the 12 months preceding the date of sponsorship application.

Since the Business was incorporated in January 2004 only and it is still to catch up commercially, what should be included to take care of this requirement ?
