According to The Daily Mail , a patient, who was waiting to be told whether he had cancer or not, was baffled when British doctors attending to him told him that his medical reports had gone missing in India, where they had been outsourced for transcription.
Such a thing can happen even if you do not oursource. Though rare but tapes do get lost inside a hospital and there is no medical transcript for a particular patient and the medical record has to be dictated again.
If not outsourced, the benefit would be it would become easier to trace where the lapse occured.
