Hello Seniors,
Is it possible to send some goods like TV,washing machine and computer table to canada before landing. My friend in Toronto will be receiving them.
I have rescheduled my landing time to november. Before leaving to India from Saudi Arabia,I wanted to send my luggage to Canada from saudi arabia.
I know goods to follow list but how about goods sending prior to landing?
Your guidance is required please.
Thank you all!!

No use sending electrical appliances here. They wont work. The voltage system in Canada is different vis-a-vis KSA.
The price that you pay to send yor computer table, you can can easily purchase better quality tables in Canada.

For other goods like Pressure cooker etc., you can use surface mail. If you have plan to land in Canada, just fill out a form @ your port of entry stating explictly what items you are bringing / planning on bringing with you. Take that document and show that to Customs Canada as and when your package/s arrive :)

Thats what I said. Send the goods by SURFACE mail.. It will take close to a month to reach Canada. Whether your friend can receive them or not will depend on HOW SOON YOU ARE ABLE TO PRODUCE THE DOCUMENT I MENTIONED IN MY PREVIOUS POST. This document states what kind of goods you plan on bringing to Canada and are termed as "Settlement goods". Customs are not levied on these goods ( as you have mentioned "Goods to follow list";)

If you cannot do that, your friend MAY have to pay customs, which I doubt he may want to pay. If your friend has no problems paying these customs you can go ahead and send the goods right away. If they are precious items then its better you send them via courier..and term them as "Gifts".. Other than that, its a routine procedure. If you can provide us some examples of your personal items, then it will surely help.

The company whom i represent is India is planning to send me samples of their entire product range which includes stationery items and leather products. I have a sister in Toronto and I want the consignment to reach her place before/after we land. How do I send them without her having to pay custom duty?
Another question : Suppose a consignment of books worth 1 lac Rs. is sent to Toronto on freight paid basis, what would be the approximate expenses to release this from customs? ( books don't have custom duty )
