My family and I would like to thank every one who attended the CD family get together at our place on this Sunday. It was really a fun filled afternoon that gave us a chance to meet and know everyone personally and to feast on the sumptuous food that every family brought with them. I got the co-operation of all the fellow desis in organizing this small event. I would like to post some details here for other members who wished to join us but could not make it this time because of some pre-commitments. The get together lasted for more than 5 hours and during this time not only we had great food but we all played games, shared jokes, listened to the music. This also gave a face to the names of each member and we all made some good friends and every body was of the opinion that we should organize these types of get together more often in various places all over GTA so that every one should have a chance to meet fellow desis living all over GTA and it would also give all of us a well deserved break from the hectic life here.

There were a total of 14 families comprising 46 members (including a total of 19 kids of every age starting from 6 months to 20 years) All the members were very punctual and the first to arrive was Sanjeev Manocha with his lovely wife Shuchi and beautiful daughter Arushi. Shuchi made some very delicious Gulab Jamun, which were liked by every one. Next to come was Naresh Chopra with family and along they brought an Italian Dish (Alfredo Fettuccine), which was relished by every one. Mr. Rajen Dholakia came from all the way from Hamilton and he brought very tasty Samosas with chutney, which were enjoyed by every one with Tea later. These Samosas were complimented by very tasty homemade Alu ki Tikki (never had this tasty tikkies here in Canada) that were made by Mrs. Lachman Balani. I would like to thank her on behalf of every one as the tikkies were simply superb and also for the fact they kept their promise of attending the get together and bringing stuff for every one even though they were having some guests at their home the same evening for dinner. Hence, they had to leave a little early so that she could reach back home and make sumptuous dinner for her guests all over again. Mr. Dakshina and his wife, Vijaya came with their 2 beautiful kids and brought the tastiest lemon rice I have ever had in Canada. The lemon rice were so good and tasty that they were liked by every one they brought them in such a good quantity that these alone would have been sufficient for 20-25 people. I took the opportunity of keeping a bowl full of the same for next day as well. The lemon rice were more than complimented by the ever-tasty Mutter Paneer (I see someone drooling all over, oh its me….) made by Mrs. Teja Gill. Gill family came with their 2 lovely daughters who are in high school and 3rd year of engineering respectively and are a good sport. Both of them participated enthusiastically in the games we played after the lunch feast. It would not be out of place to mention about the tasty Dal Makhni by Mr. Sudhish Pai and family, Rajmah by Mr. D. P. Jain and family and Chhole by Mr. Ashish Parik and family and 2 big boxes of Ice Creams by Mr. K. N Ramesh and Naan and juice by Mr. Tapas Sen and family & large party packs of chips by Neelash & Alpa. I would also like to thank Mr. Vyomesh to find time and join us for this get together and making it livelier with his jolly presence. Apart from these items, we had Ice Cream, Naans, snacks, chips, coke, juice and Tea for every one to enjoy.

After lunch Mr. Sanjeev Manocha and Naresh Chopra took over the proceedings for entertaining the guests with their jokes and started musical chair game first for the kids, then for teenagers, followed by all the ladies and lastly by all the gentlemen. Every kid and teenager who participated got some token prizes and the kids were very happy and enjoyed a lot. By the time we were over playing games, it was teatime and we enjoyed the tea with tikkies, samosas and chips. By this time some of the members had to leave because of their earlier commitment but the remaining members enjoyed 2 rounds of Tambola, which was fun.


Special thanks are also due to Mr. Gill for taking digital photos of this get together and K.N. Ramesh for making a digital video. If Rashmi Bhai permits, we can email him these photos and he can put them on the forum. Mr. Balani also took photographs, which I am sure we will see when we visit him. I would also like to apologize to the members if any thing was short of their expectations and if I have missed mentioning any thing here.

The party was over by 6 P.M and I have no doubts to say that with the co-operative attitude of every one it was really fun to host this get together and I have no hesitation in saying that given the opportunity I would love to do it all over again.

These are my feelings and I would once again thank every one who attended and would love to hear their comments.

Chopra saheb, Congrats for organizing a great gettgether....for those of us who could not attend it is really nice to read how things turned out. I could not attend but my thoghts were with the CD family.

I am guessing there were plenty of Kishore kumar songs, esp since so many members had shown keen interest in KK songs.

It'd be nice to see the pictures.

Due to some pre-commitments we couldn't make it this time but from you post it seems we had really missed a great get - together.

Do or Die.....

Hi CD Members,

I was fortunate to attend this get-together with my wife and two kids. It was really a fun-filled afternoon with great food, fun, joke and personal interaction.

It gave an opportunity to overcome daily stress and to make some good personal friends out of vast CD community. I appreciate the views and thoughts I shared with Mr. Lachman, Mr. Teja Gill, Mr. Sanjeev and others. It was a great occasion for my family to entertain and mingle up with new families.

I would like to sincerely thank Mr. Chopra to take lead and arrange it a memorable get-together. I do hope , our CD community will arrange some more get-togethers like this.
