From Study Permit to Work Permit and again to Study Permit for Immigration

Hello Imm. Experts,

I came to Canada to study post graduate program from Community College, on study permit and after graduation i applied and received post-graduate work permit, which is soon going to expire.

On the other hand i am planning to put my immigration file, after my work permit expires, coz i don't make 67 points right now.

So, I guess I have to maintain my status in Canada to put my Immi. file from buffalo, and for that reason I am again planning to apply for study permit once again and have following doubts for it.

1) Can i apply from inside Canada (Vegreville) or do i have to apply from Buffalo or outside Canada?

2) What are the chances of getting my study permit? Reason I am asking b'coz i already studied here, now working and again planning to study.

It all depends if you get admission from a college. If you can show your admission letter + proof of funding (or funds in bank) then you can get a study premit, no matter what happens. Getting ur IMMI and applying for a study permit are totally unrelated cases.

HI Indianguy,

I'll try to answer your questions:

1)Yes, you can apply from Inside Canada
2)you have to prove them that you are really going to study what I mean to say if you are getting into private college just to maintain status it won't work as few of my friends cases were forwarded to Local CIC to verify that they are going to study or not?

But I also know lot of other guys who has done that and they were able to get study permit.

So make your case strong and get admission into some good university / community college and you will be fine.

and how many points you have now for immigration ? I'm just curious as I'm also going to apply after I get my study permit

I have 66 points after my work permit, and if i get 16/16 for my english proficiency.

guys, i was just wondering does proving your english efficiecy to the canadian authorities fetches any kind of points for acquiring the ellusive PR , if yes then how many points can one gain by english efficiency and what are the exams to be given to prove your english efficiency

Bhavli, nope it doesnt help. On the other hand, if you can prove competency in French you will get preferential treatment with immigration to Quebec ( and eventually into Canada)
