Need help to understand why did George Fernandes keep mum when India was being insulted at the US airport? Generally a big mouth - what was the crucial reason he swallowed the insult?
The PM knew all the details but why did he not reciprocate? Was he so sold out on India Shining slogan that anything contrary was not acceptable?
When China, Brazil and North korea challenged the US high-handedness, the US buckeled. Why did India give-in so meekly?
Does this incident reflect a larger problem of lack of sef-esteem in us?
These are some of the questions that are bothering me. Can anyone throw some light?

Hi Yourstruly,
Glad that you raised concern on this very important aspect.
However are you aware that George Fernandes who is still unable to digest the crushing defeat of NDA made yet another somersault and claimed the other day that he was never strip searched at the US airport.
Such contradictory statements with in a gap of few days from a person who was Indias' tainted Defence Minister not so long ago has created irreparable damage to India which in my opinion is much more than the strip search itself.

Thanks for updating but I was not aware that George has gone back on his confession. Shameful is the only word I can think of right now to describe his behaviour.
As you rightly mentioned the NDA defeat and loss of power has left him mentally confused and morally bankrupt.

I wonder about this sometimes too. One of the main reaons public infrastructure and the legal system in India is such a mess is because nobody's really accountable. And the major reason nobody's accountable is because there is no powerful voice telling them that they should be. There's just so much apathy in this regard, its appaling.
I'd lose count if I tried to remember how many times in India someone came forward and took a stand against corruption and how he/she were sent back to the shadows by the gunda elements. Reason? Nobody wants to support them - the lack of spine factor again.
