Whatever religious rituals/practices you have mentioned, I too may not like. But can we coerce anybody to follow only those we like. If we do like that we end up being no different from the Paris gunman.

Even as you go about criticising faith in God and religion we can sense a latent craving inside you to find God. Keep going.

Religion is faith and a personal thing .

You believe in stone , book , idol .. what ever and wish to adhere your faith to it .. so be it .

But do not impose your thoughts or beliefs over others.

Do not say that yours is right and others' is wrong .

Do not kill / break law / terrorize / blast bombs because of it.

Do not term others non believers and subject them to discrimination because of this.

Above all , be tolerant of others and do not be violent. That's a line which should not be crossed and that's a line which is nearly always breached by Islamist Terrorists. ... which makes one think what makes them so .. very intolerant and radical ?

I do not know what these rituals are, that each one follows, or some one helps you with it because you yourself do not know how to conduct them in a manner that will fulfill , in a proper format, in which it has to be conducted, to gain the most out of it. Remember it is very personal.

Each one who visits this website believes in all of the things that the other believes in. But the priority that is attached with such objects always vary depending upon its use and functionality. You can always do as you wish, whether it be your religion or faith or your personal thing. No one objects to it and no one need to know about it too.

Lots of facts come out in the open and are made available to you and everyone, when we do a rational analysys. Some people look to science to get their answers to it and some people look to scriptures.

If others, who follow their scriptures to the word and line, as you wish to follow yours, and when we look up into the skies and hope that they will change their views as per your wishes, because you see a fault in theirs, NOT Knowing if your wishes are right, I find, that you are imposing our thoughts and views upon them. I am not here to question you or them. I will let you decide upon it yourself.

There are 7.3 Billion inhabitants of this earth and only if all of us agree to at least upon one item, then, we will head towards unity in this world some time in the future and live peacefully. We are not there yet. So, how do we go about it?

I for one do not know how. So, I give up. (We all are onlookers, and there are decision makers and also people who carry out their orders. So, let us all wait and watch. Would that be O.K.with you.?)

Whether it is religion, God, atheism, secularism or "freedom" of expression, not going overboard seems to be the right way.

In Tamil Nadu there was this party very active in 1970s. Claiming to represent the people but in reality it was only anti-Hindu. It would put up statue of their leader in front of Hindu places of religious worship and etched below will be slogans, those who believe in God are idiots, cheats and barbarians. Is this "freedom" of expression? There was their "infamous" procession where they garlanded idols of Hindu gods with slippers and many other indescribable acts. But the response by the people was totally different. There has been a tsunami of bhakti movement in the last 40 years and the so called reforms party is all but extinct.

I agree freedom of expression can breach acceptable levels as exhibited in the above case. But that does not provide / give reason for any one to be violent or break the law or murder others !!!! ....

This is where the problem lies ... Islamists tend to create a Islam o phobia by their history of actions and raising fatwas or death threats ..... eg Salman Rushdie or Taslima Nasreen. .... and in the latest case killing of the Charlie Hebdo people ....

Message sent across is ... we will not tolerate anything against Islam and if you do so prepare for violence ..... so much for Islam being depicted as a religion of peace.

Islamists have been known to kill non Muslims when they have refused to convert to Islam and known to wipe out non Muslims as non believers .......where does the root of all this lie ... think ?

It lies in those diktats laid by the religion which profess non tolerance towards other religions ..... This much change for a better tomorrow...

Imagine that white bearded painter MF Husain painted nude pictures of Mother India and got away easily out of India to acquire Qatari Nationality .... This is tolerance !!

Would PK have been tolerated had it been a satire on Islam ? ... This is tolerance.

Not that you take ou guns and blaze them on some one you feel has insulted your feelings ...There s a civil way of going about things.
