My next international assignment is in Jaffana (Sri Lanka).
Please provide your input about life, costs (compared to India) etc. for this place. I am a non veg. with North Indian back ground.

Jaffna is a bustling fishing town. Majority is Singhalese. Very laid back life. Major employer of foreigners is the UN there.
Cost of living is very cheap and quality of life is good. Night life is excellent. As norm for these kind of places, you can live cheaply or you can spend extravagantly.

Sorry. A mistake on my part. It is a majority Tamil town
To add, there are still simmering ethinic differences still existing in that city but it should not matter much as you have Indian origins.

Someone may also please put some light on food, life, cost of living etc.
I can see there are some big cities in India near to this place. What will be mode of transport to nearby cities in India, like Tanjavor etc.

There are flights to Trichy from Sri lanka (check the cities of Sri lanka which has a flight to Trichy). From Trichy, Tanjore is just 54 kms and takes an hour by bus. You can also hire a taxi to take you from the Trichy airport.
Trichy is the centre of Tamil nadu and all major cities of Tamil nadu (except Chennai) are within a 4 hour drive
