Hi All,
I may be moving in the next 2-3 months to Chicago. I was wondering if any of you can shed some light on the cost of living between the 2 cities (Toronto vs Chicago). If I am making $100,000 in Toronto, would I need to make $125K in Chicago to have the same standard of living? The internet sites that I have looked at show conflicting info...
Thanks!
what is the unit of your SALARY.
CANAdian OR US dollar?
anycase, us dollar will remain down, or further go down in future.
also BRICS nation have make a decesion to not do busniess on US dollar. That will put pressure on US dollar more. canada is fine till commedity price remain high
So better look at more salary of 125k USD compare to 100k CAD to have same earning power

Compare car insurance rates too. You will find that your car insurance in Ontario, even with an excellent driving record, is crime.

Your savings will be double living in US, for sure even if you get same salary over there. Any addition on the name of currency conversion will be addition to savings . JJJump at the opportunity and run with it as far (as long ) as you can... I wish I was you.
Only thing which might pinch you is difference in taxes to be paid to Canadian govt. consult some tax expert on that.
Indeed if you pay the difference in taxes to Canada, it is probably the same deal in Chicago
125K in Chicago? Let me know what position and which company in Chicago would pay that much.
