If you want him to get the visa, then yes.
The consulate needs to see proof of funds to be convinced that all travel and stay can be adequately covered.

Provide him the invitation letter to the best of what you are willing to provide. You have every right to ensure privacy if that's what you desire. What happens next is upto your relative and the consular officer. Considering you are not entirely excited about him coming, I don't see a need for you to agonize over this. Hope this helps.

It is a good idea not to show your relatives your income. They multiply that number by 50 Rupees and think you are a Crorepati. They dont realise the expenses over here.

A Masala dosa which costs 1 dollar in India costs 5 to 10 $ here.

The question is - do you really care for the relationship? It seems you do not - and if that be the case - Very simple - tell him that if he tried to get a visa through sponsorship from you, it will CERTAINLY be denied due to some complications that you cannot explain.

It seems you do not want him to come visit you. You just want to be nice for saving your relationship. I fully support chandresh view that you should be straight forward & tell him the truth. It will save both your & your uncle time.
