Toyota is recalling more than 2.3 million vehicles in the U.S and Canada to fix accelerator pedals that can become stuck.

Accelerator pedals could become lodged under floor mats, causing sudden acceleration.

Vehicles affected by the latest recall are:

• 2009-2010 RAV4
• 2009-2010 Corolla
• 2009-2010 Matrix
• 2005-2010 Avalon
• 2007-2010 Camry
• 2010 Highlander
• 2007-2010 Tundra
• 2008-2010 Sequoia

The part in concern was made in Mississauga by a US based company called CTS.

There goes Canadian JOBS !.

I am not sure if how much will CTS be responsible for this - they are parts manufacturers and manufacture according to customer's design. As long as they made to specs of the customer, the customer tested and approved them - CTS should not be much worried -though in business many times you have to 'share' the loss especially when the customer is as huge as TOYOTA.

I am sure there will now be many more law suits from TOYOTA owners who crashed in the last couple of years - blaming this design issue...irrespective of the actual reason.

One mistake and years of brand building and profits down the drain...a very expensive recall for TOYOTA indeed.
