All I know is that its a jewish neighbourhood and hence expensive to live ??

Yes it is a mostly Jewish/Russian neighbourhood, but it is a good place to live. I lived in the GTA for nearly a decade, and had many friends who stayed in Thornhill, so I frequented the area. I do not think the cost of living (groceries, gas, other bills) is unusually high, although real estate will certainly be above average for the GTA.

If you are looking for desi people living around you though, Thornhill may not suit you the best.
