Hello,
SAP basis is very good as a course and a Technology. However, Canada may be unable to provide yiu with any jobs until after 2010. US JOb market will also open up only when jobs are being created. if some one tells you that you will get a job after you do the course and finish certification, then they are lying.
Also a lot of low ballers from India like TCS, Infosys etc.. stealing our jobs.
When ever you go to a Training institute, Always ask for a Free laptop (yours to keep) as well as Hard copies of materials. They have to come with the fee that you pay for (Typically $1500-$2000) based on your negotiation. If you take 3 modules a return flight ticket to India is the standard offered at most institutions.
You also have to seek life long server access to SAP training server. A lot of server's have important data erased by students and in this case a complete server (yours to keep and only yours) is around $5000. You can share with some of your friends.
Hope this helps.
For more information, Please feel free to post your questions.
happy SAP ing (Slow And Poisonous)

Peace by a PD

It all depends on the power of negotiation and being at the right place at the right time (Similar to the immigration to Canada. Getting a job {Apart from IT and FInance} is more like being at the right place at the right time).
Any SAP Class provider, spends the amount given by one person to pay the instructor and the Amount given by the other for his profit, Overheads and system access. from the 3 rd. student, it is huge profit for the person running the show. More so, when one man armies are concerned.
In One SAP class, I found 11 students with 7 from EI (EI students pay 3 times the fees than taht of a normal person). So imagine the desi profit.
Getting a laptop / all expenses paid vacation all depends on the timing and how the owner perceives it. Sometimes, if he sees you naive, he will refuse. If you are stern, he may provide you the laptop for free and never ask you again. If he has a suspecion that you may spread the word worldwide, he may not give you even one cent benefit. Some times if you say that you will compain to the MP/MPP/The Star that they are skimming EI people, he may give you even 2 or 3 laptops for free.
All depends on circumstances.
Hope this helps and gives you the power of insider information as well the power of negotiation.

Thank you for your reply, i am a canadian citizen and have been living here for 10years doing I.T HELP DESK which I dont see myself going higher in my job profile so i was thinking of doing SAP basis starting fresh in Jan or Feb of 2010 and then getting a job into that field after which pursuing in SAP security and BI . But truly speaking i have heard alot of good and bad advices and i am pretty confused as to what to do with my career, My main concern is companies do not hire new grads they want experienced personel and we cant get experience without a job (two sides of a coin) which concerns me alot spending money to do something and then not getting into that field is a BIG BIG risk, i do have a job but want to move higher and make more money .

It is equally true when immigrants come to Canada and steal Canadians jobs.
