Surprisingly, none of the female members/housewives have responded to this post - I am sure some of you must have needed this help in the past and must know of some way out.

Parties, big or small, Guests always extended helping hand. Even if one did not stay from start to end, they took turns. No pun intended, but I guess if you would have asked for volunteers from this forum without putting the rate you would have gotten better response. No harm in asking for help from guests if 100s of them are planning to attend.

Good luck!

You are right - and in the 20 or so parties that I throw in a year, I do take help from guests. However, there are a few where I do not want any guest to help - as far as possible. This is an open house and so I expect them to be at my house between 30-40 minutes each only. Even if I decided to ask for help from guests, do you think it is possible to assign the work to a new guest each hour (so seven different people helping in the seven hours the party runs for!!!)? The reason I need help is so that we can easily meet and greet each new guest every 10-20 minutes.

No I am not looking for volunteers from the group - I am specifically looking for persons who regularly or on part time basis do a waiter/waitress job. And that is why I am asking for people who might have used such help or are aware about such help.

And donot you think that CD classifieds might be the most appropriate place to put your request ( it is a specific request for a paid piece work job) rather than in the Charcha?

Peace by a PD

No I do not think so, and for two reasons:

1. I am looking for guidance/help from fellow CDs who might have used such a help (just like looking for a car mechanic or a handyman) - not for them to do it, but suggest or advice or help in locating one.

2. I do not expect the kind of person that I am looking for (full time/part time waiters) to be members of CD who would be looking at such ads - infact, I would be surprised if anyone doing that job would be having the inclination to become a member of CD - more so because I am not looking for Indian only - but person of any race. Most people who do such jobs are either Philipinos or Eastern European.

The help I am looking for could be:

1. A fellow CD member having used such services recommanding the person to me. (just like you could recommand a car mechanic to me)
2. Someone who could advice as to how I can get such help. (like post a note at No Frills in a particular area)
3. Someone could perhaps direct me to an agency who does this as a business.
4. Someone who has a maid working for them during the week and does part time jobs on weekends.
5. Someone's children do such work on part time basis (my son used to work at Pizza Hut) and they could tell them about this requirement of mine.

etc. etc.

Chandresh ,

Since its a short term gig you are looking for , why not try craigslist as well as kijiji ? You can mention Hindi / Diwali etc to elicit the needed responses .... This might widen your searching area beyond CD ...
