Hi

If my husband remitts funds from the middleast, do I have to pay any taxes on that amount?

Pls advise

Any remittances that are being made by your spouse from the Middle East is free and non taxable in your hands, here in Canada.

According to my knowledge, yes it is not taxed when received, but when shown as an income at the end of the year will attract taxes.

I make the above statement on the assumption that the spouse in Middle East is also a PR / Canadian. Otherwise it can be sent as gift money which will not be considered as income. Thoughts?

Even then , it will not be taxable for the OP .

So when we file our tax returns do we have to declare this as "Income" ?
Will there be a question as to where this money is generated from and if you have no income in canada how are you surviving?

But what happen if we decide to transfer money later (not bring in when landing). Is it taxable?
